THE INTERRUPTED TALENT - INDIAN FILM INDUSTRY

THE INTERRUPTED TALENT - INDIAN FILM INDUSTRY
In the aftermath of sad demise of talented Sushant Singh Rajput, the suppressed anger over constant nepotistic practices in Indian Film Industry, has invigorated an old debate among general public and from within film fraternity, also extensively opined via social media and interview by enormously talented actor Kangana Ranaut.

Kangana has been very vocal in confronting openly the manipulative Movie Moguls’ authoritative regimes, who pursue their own vested interests, accompanied by a coterie of celebrity friends, biased commercial mass media houses, they constantly pamper and recruit inept star kids, engineering their publicity and persona, providing repetitive career opportunities with special privileges, awards and social media accolades,  which may not be best bet for furthering better quality cinema for a movie-goer, at the moment.

The main problems are created by major commanding and controlling players in Movie Industry and their determination to promote incompetent star kids over new talent, demonstrates the existence of partial and imbalanced establishment. It is well known, some actors have been maligned, defamed, psychologically destroyed, labelled ‘mental’, fired from movies, criticized blatantly on behalf of influential powers, through false propaganda and petty marketing by their ‘chosen’ specialists. Sadly, some were misguided and disappeared, their images are misrepresented repeatedly, bringing forth the horrors of ruthless film industry, fortunately, few actors remain fearless, rightly voice against favouritism, unfairness and injustice done to them.

The unfortunate favouritism largely promoted by hypocrite mentors, and their inclination to indulge in character assassination is deplorable, we are aware, how fanatically, well-known Bollywood camps try to jeopardize talent and ostracize wrongly. But at the same time, few Indian actors have remained determined, to be a dominant force to control and forge their destines.

In contemporary cultural society, there are two types of catalysts of change to defy the challenges of shocking reality of partial system, either a courageous and an upfront woman like Kangana Ranaut who opposes injustice openly, or be a Priyanka Chopra, gutsy and determined personality, kept silent, reinvented herself and went on to become a Global Icon. Such women are turning their thoughts and dreams into reality, writing their own chronicles, a valuable ideology for aspiring talent to succeed in Indian Film Industry.

The dominant rulers of Indian cinema have spawned a social status with a Brahmanical  class pride, they try to ‘brand’ their supremacy and prejudice on every aspect of the Industry, however this superiority will persist as it’s human nature to support and promote their ilk, sometimes at the expense of unfair practices, increasing manipulation and humiliation experienced by actors within industry, till the time mavericks like Dharmendra, Priyanka, Kangana, Akshay do not challenge. The ‘first among equals’ of cinema, with their PR machinery and ‘tricks’ package, dispose off beauty and talent from limelight, disturbingly, they have openly exploited, oppressed, mistreated artists and continue to display insensitivity and callous selfishness.

There is lot of media hype about misleading analysis of nepotism, does exist in families as they strongly vouch for their own kin, but to neglect the significance of artistry and skillfulness of others with their deceitful ways and ruining them, is socially and morally abominable. Favouritism and nepotism, the faulty practice of traumatization in film industry, intensifies mental and emotional stress among young aspiring actors and artists, compounded with unfortunate sarcasm and humiliation in partisan programs of the   bullying film squad and their critic friends as they try to manipulate the fate of films.

Nowadays, in the crazy and trying times of coronavirus, the future of mainstream cinema and big budget movies is highly uncertain, since no mega projects being announced, and the masses will not entertain themselves in cinema halls for a long time to come. Presently, we are witnessing the making and advancement of short and low budget movies, being released on OTT platforms, generating opportunities for upcoming new talent in all aspects of film making. This is perhaps the right time to encourage and appreciate new discoveries, ensure irreversible change in providing a just and equitable platform to the aspirants.  The most encouraging phenomena, the active participation of audience in ongoing debates on controversies, concealments, and the injustice in the Industry via the powerful social media, hopefully will bring change in times to come.

The level of opportunity for actors is extremely limited for ‘outsiders’, but few production houses inspire new talent, motivate and boost high confidence among them, however if more administrators with fixed mind-set, modified their detrimental tactics, a credible evolution sanguinely, creating equal chances and career prospects for capable actors, regardless of their background.

The rising demands for wide-reaching change in thoughtless and dictatorial approach, will strengthen the creative faculty, a successful step forward for enhancing timeless quality in Indian cinema.

LITTLE WARRIORS’ AMAZON STORY The Amazon Forest, also called Amazon jungle or Amazonia covers forty percent of South American continent, is the largest Rainforest in the world. T he forest yields many non-renewable and renewable natural resources, though the tropical forest is threatened by habitat destruction, yet it is the most biologically diverse reservoir and has myriad range of animal and plant species. Recently, a Colombian family’s ordeal in the dangerous Amazon jungle captured the headlines all over the world. It was a harrowing and heart-breaking journey for the family as they tried to escape from an area scarred by endless violent guerilla conflicts. On May 1 st, Magdalena Mucutuy with her four children boarded a small aircraft to fly from Araracuara to San Jose del Guaviare to join her husband for security and safety of the family. But the destiny had its own plan for them, due

PARVEEN BABI - IN REMEMBRANCE

PARVEEN BABI - IN REMEMBRANCE This is in the memory of one of the most beautiful, educated and glamourous model turned actresses of Indian cinema, Parveen Babi. She was not only an exquisite beauty but highly talented girl who mesmerized audience with her screen presence and performance during her time in Indian film Industry. Parveen Babi, the only child, born to her parents after 14 years on 4th April 1949, went to Mount Carmel High School and ended up with a degree in English literature from St Xavier’s College Ahmedabad. From the beginning she had interest in painting, writing, reading and playing piano which she  continued till her later life. She was a simple fun- loving girl, with peculiar sense of humor and wanted to settle down happily married. Vying for love, happiness and fulfilment, destiny did not oblige, and played its part otherwise, leading to unhappiness and disappointments. Her journey in filmdom began with h

THE RISE OF ACTION GENRE - INDIAN ACTRESSES

THE RISE OF ACTION GENRE – INDIAN ACTRESSES The gradual progress of female action-oriented movies in Indian cinema started in late 80’s. The fundamental problem about the popularity and acceptance of heroine lead action movies in 80’s, continues to arise even at present, it is understandable with limited and prejudiced perception of audience about women in the dominant action roles, curtailed by the significant consideration extended to leading actors, with super heroes status, maintaining typical action formula. The quality of action-oriented film with inherent challenge requires natural talent with plausible personality and character. But it is only a decade since we are witnessing long delayed female action movies in modern times. At present, there are few female actresses, with merit, grit and determination to portray heroic roles and deserve ample opportunities to act in supreme performance action-centric movies. The debut of female ‘action act’ in Indian cinema was in
