T he forest yields many non-renewable and renewable natural resources, though the tropical forest is threatened by habitat destruction, yet it is the most biologically diverse reservoir and has myriad range of animal and plant species. Recently, a Colombian family’s ordeal in the dangerous Amazon jungle captured the headlines all over the world. It was a harrowing and heart-breaking journey for the family as they tried to escape from an area scarred by endless violent guerilla conflicts. On May 1 st, Magdalena Mucutuy with her four children boarded a small aircraft to fly from Araracuara to San Jose del Guaviare to join her husband for security and safety of the family.
