Heavenly birthday wishes to Parveen Babi on 4th April 2021, she would have turned 72 today, a luminous extraordinary glowing beauty, originally of Pashtun lineage, belonged to The Babi dynasty in the Indian subcontinent, her upbringing was privileged. Parveen Babi, though coming from affluent orthodox royal ancestry, enhanced a forward-thinking spirit by casting off societal norms. She was 70’s fashionable chic, known for her trendy style, became one of the defining actors, blossomed into a highly popular commercial entertainer and one of the highest paid stars of Indian film industry.

Parveen Babi a gorgeous beauty, fresh, charming, tall and lissom model turned actress, made bold acting debut in 1973 film Charitra, though the movie was not commercially successful, nevertheless she was spotted on for her beauty, glamour and acting ability. Parveen with ambitious mind, dedication and westernized personality gave powerful performances in Deewar and Majboor, for sure everyone has seen her small, bold and iconic appearance in Deewar, thereafter there was no looking back for her and she attained stardom in a very short time.

An effervescent Parveen Babi was a highly glamourous revolutionary woman, with her simple yet elegant and trendy hair style, stunned in stylish attired dresses, she starred with some of the great actors and gave many hits. Although she was typecast in westernized roles, but soon Parveen asserted herself in more challenging portrayals by doing Rang Birangi, Yeh Nazdeekiyan and Dil Akhir Dil Hai. She was a strong professional woman, did not interfere in anybody’s work, shunning stereotypical filmi rivalries, and concentrated on her own career.

The decade of 70’s witnessed the initiation of strong women-oriented roles, had she been alive Parveen  would have definitely opted for compelling, meaningful, action packed and art roles, she had the power to rise above typical performances in action-adventure thrillers ‘Bond 303’, ‘Khoon Aur Pani’ etc. Parveen Babi enjoyed ‘Hollywood comedy’, became more drawn to comic roles and suspense thrillers in later years, she had impeccable comic timing in films like Khuddhar, Dur Desh and Khoon Aur Paani.

Stunning and breathtakingly beautiful Parveen possessed strength and simplicity, she exhibited sophistication and stylishness, at the same time Parveen was introspective, inquisitive and analytic, she expounded the true definition of glamour and stardom, Parveen Babi lives on as irreplaceable asset to Indian cinema.
